Dermatology Residents rotate in Dermatopathology and are required to have a
general competency in Dermatopathology including a general understanding of
grossing dermatologic specimens. The residents on rotation participate in daily
sign-out by previewing the cases with a thorough check of the previous accessions/history
in the morning and then signing out those cases with the Dermatopathologist
in the afternoon. Residents attend weekly teaching conferences that are given
Thursday afternoons. There is also a separate teaching conference given monthly
that is required. In addition to these conferences, residents have access to
independent study sets, which can be reviewed and questions can be discussed
with the Dermatopathologist.
Dermatology Residents are required to publish at least one web case per year.
This is posted on the "Web
Dermatopathology Case of the Month" portion of this web site. Residents
prepare a case of interest including the clinical history, pathology and discussion
of the case and it is published to the web site.
